OfficeServ Intrusion Detection System is integrated within the OfficeServ MP11 or WIM Modules. Objective: To enable employees to securely access the full range of internal IT service over an insecure network.
The VPN VPN is short for Virtual Private Network, and is a network that is constructed by using a public communications infrastructure such as the internet to connect remote users and branch offices to a corporate network. In order to ensure both privacy and integrity across the VPN the application within the WIM utilises sophisticated encryption and tunnelling technology to allow data to be securely transmitted across the Internet. The WIM deploys IPsec, which is short for IP security, a set of protocols developed by the IETF, the Internet Engineering Task Force, to support the secure exchange of packets at the IP layer. IPsec has been deployed widely to implement VPN’s. In addition the WIM utilises PPTP, Point-to-Point Tunnelling Protocol. This relatively new technology was developed jointly by Microsoft, U.S. Robotics and several remote access vendor companies collectively known as the PPTP Forum. As the internet is essentially an open network, PPTP is used to ensure that messages transmitted from one VPN node to another are secure. |
