Samsung Softswitch is based on the architecture based on Samsung's Next Generation Network (NGN). The Softswitch, an intelligent component in the VoP network, is a forward-looking, next generation telecommunication product that provides carrier class call control, translation, routing, and bandwidth management over a full range of access technologies. It leverages the ever-increasing performance of carrier-grade, rack-mounted, commercial computers to deliver a very scalable and high performance next generation telecommunications system.
Core components of the Softswitch are the System Manager (SM), the Call Application Node (CAN), the Communication Server Node (CSN), Front Node (FN), and System Billing Node (SBN). The Samsung NGN system architecture delivers optimal performance, high availability and maximum scalability.
