OfficeServ DeMilitarized Zone OfficeServ Intrusion Detection System is integrated within the OfficeServ MP11 or WIM Modules. The DMZ
The abbreviation DMZ is short for DeMilitarized Zone and is a computer or small sub-network that sits between a trusted internal network, for example a private LAN and an untrusted external network such as the world wide web, the public internet. Typically, the DMZ contains devices that you would wish to be accessible to internet traffic, for example Web (HTTP) servers, File servers (FTP) and e-mail servers (SMTP). In other words the DMZ is an area in no-mans land between the trusted internal network and the untrusted external network and you are aware that the DMZ is vulnerable and could be compromised, therefore servers placed in a DMZ would be hardened against attack and would be treated as untrusted to the internal network. Those server devices containing data that you wish to be more secure for example, your customer database, would not be located in the DMZ, they would be on the other side of the Firewall located in the trusted internal network. Provides interface for publicly available IT services eg. |
